The Sunburst is Otterbine's signature pattern — a wide, gracefully tapered hemisphere that delivers excellent aeration while displaying a conservative yet striking silhouette.

The Sunburst produces a broad, symmetrical hemisphere of water — the classic, universally flattering fountain look, reaching 4–11 ft high and up to 40 ft across depending on horsepower, while circulating 530–1,100 GPM. It is aeration-forward — it moves more water than the display patterns.

Aeration & water quality

Every Otterbine aerating fountain is first and foremost an aerator. A patented mixed-flow design pulls oxygen-poor water from beneath the surface and moves it in high volume through the pattern, where it is oxygenated and returned — circulating the pond, breaking down thermal stratification, and supporting healthier water quality, clearer conditions, and fish habitat. Otterbine publishes independent, third-party oxygen-transfer and pumping-rate testing for its fountains.

How your fountain is built

An Otterbine aerating fountain is a configured system, assembled from four matched components so it arrives sized correctly for your pond and power:

  1. Motor unit & float — the oil-cooled submersible power unit and its one-piece float, chosen by horsepower and voltage.
  2. Sunburst pattern chamber — the interchangeable spray chamber that creates the Sunburst look. All 1–5 HP Otterbine patterns interchange on the same unit, so you can change the display later.
  3. Power Control Center (PCC) — the shore-mounted, ETL/UL508a control panel matched to the unit’s horsepower and voltage, with a GFCI/electrical-protection package.
  4. Underwater power cable — a factory-terminated submersible cable, sized to your shore-to-fountain distance. Select your cord length above to include the correctly-sized cable, or use our Cable Selector for a custom run.

Engineering & construction

  • Motor: custom oil-cooled submersible, 3,450 RPM (60 Hz), 1.15 service factor (1.00 on 5 HP single-phase), dynamically balanced rotor.
  • Materials: 316-grade stainless-steel motor housing and shaft, silicon-carbide mechanical seal, and an industrial thermoplastic pumping chamber and intake screen — engineered to run in effluent and brackish water.
  • Float: seamless, one-piece high-density polyethylene filled with closed-cell polyurethane foam, with carry handles and integrated light pockets.
  • Serviceability: upper-plate electrical quick-disconnect for straightforward service.
  • Operating depth: runs in as little as 30 in (75 cm) of water.
  • Certifications: ETL listed (60 Hz); UL508a control panels; CE (EU).

Complete your fountain

  • Power cable — sized to your pond with our Cable Selector (correct gauge and length, to Otterbine’s 5% voltage-drop standard).
  • Fountain Glo lighting — LED, Midi-RGBW and Maxi-RGBW color-changing light sets to run the display after dark.
  • Options — sacrificial zinc anode kits (recommended for brackish/effluent water), intake screen kits, low-water level control, photocell and timer controls, wind control, and fixed-fountain stands for shallow water.

Warranty & support

Backed by Otterbine’s industry-first 5-year warranty and an exclusive pattern guarantee. Sold, configured, and supported by Natural Waterscapes — we help you match the horsepower, voltage, cable, and options to your specific pond.

Shipping

Ships by freight. Unit shipping weight approximately 150–160 lbs by horsepower; the control center and cable ship separately.
