How big do koi get? Many factors impact how large a koi will get. In small ornamental ponds and koi ponds, koi will grow up to 12-15". In a larger pond, koi commonly grow 24"+ inches. Other factors that impact growth include water quality and diet. 

Do koi recognize their owners? Yes! They are very intelligent and will learn to swim up to you for food. 

Shipping Information

Live Fish Orders are processed within 24 hours Monday through Thursday. Because this is a live product, orders placed after 2 PM EST on Thursday will ship the following Monday to ensure safe arrival. Arrival times vary based on location. Be prepared to receive your fish quickly. Expedited shipments arrive within 2 business days. We will send tracking information once fish have left our facility. 

What to expect upon arrival of pond fish:

Inside the delivery box is an insulated box liner to reduce wide temperature swings. Fish are double bagged and shipped in blue/green colored water which contains stress reducing formula. Fish care instructions and koi food is included.

How to prep a pond for new fish:

Ensure the fish have a healthy balanced pond to live in- Add beneficial bacteria to keep water clean. For Koi Ponds use Pond Remedy, for Large Ponds use RapidBac. If you have recently had a fish kill, we highly recommend having water tested before introducing new fish. Pond Water Test Kit

Do you have ample habitat in your pond? For an ornamental pond this may include a mix of floating and submerged plants. For large ponds this may be a combination of shoreline plants, water lilies, and other structures like trees, stumps, rocks or even artificial habitats

How to acclimate pond fish:

Unpack pond fish from box

Remove outer bag

Place fish bag still closed into pond water to allow water temperature to adjust for approximately 10 minutes

Open fish bag. Add pond water to the bag until there is  50/50 mix. Wait another 10 minutes before releasing fish into the pond.
