Pond Dye Frequently Asked Questions
How long does pond dye last?
Pond dye longevity can vary based on water inflow. In a pond with little to no flow through dye can remain visible for 2 or more months. Ponds with flow-through or significant rainfall will notice fading sooner. Adequate shading occurs in the pond for approximately 1 month.
Can you swim in pond after treatment?
We recommend waiting 1-2 hours until dye has dispersed. Once the dye has dispersed it will not discolor clothing, hair, skin, etc. Pond dye is not harmful to humans or pets.
Will pond dye color my pet's fur?
No- once dye is dispersed it will not cause any discoloration of hair.
Can pond dye be used if water is used for irrigation?
Yes, pond dye will not harm terrestrial plants. It will not discolor vegetation either.
Is black or blue pond dye better?
Both colors applied at the recommended rate will provide equal results for blocking sunlight.
Will pond dye work if the pond is already green?
Pond dye can still be applied if the water is discolored. The suspended particles causing discoloration may cause dye to appear a different shade than expected. More dye may be needed to improve coloration. If cloudiness continues to be an issue, Pond Clarifier may be needed to drop suspended particles to the bottom of the pond.
