Cutrine Plus Algaecide 1 gallon
Cutrine Plus is designed to control bottom growing string algae / filamentous algae, green water / planktonic algae, and chara.
EPA-approved for use in lakes and potable water reservoirs, farm fish ponds and fish hatcheries.
Cutrine Plus effectively controls a broad range including:
- Planktonic Algae (suspended)
- Cyanobacteria (mycrocystis, ananbaena, & aphanizomenon)
- Green Algae
- Golden Algae
- Filamentous Algae (mat-forming)
- Benthic Algae (bottom-growing)
Expect to see results within 7-10 days. As string algae dies, it releases from the bottom of the pond. You will see floating mats of brown algae appear in the pond. This can be removed with a pond rake or can be digested naturally with Muck Remover beneficial bacteria.
Unless steps are taken to reduce the overall nutrients in the pond, multiple applications may be needed for a full season of control.
How to use Cutrine Plus Liquid:
Dilution rate for Cutrine Plus is 9:1. For 1 gal of Cutrine, mix 9 gal water. For 1 qt Cutrine, mix 2.25 gal water. Spray directly on affected areas. Only treat up to half of the pond surface, waiting 10 to 14 days before treating the second half. Treatment of algae can result in oxygen loss from decomposition of dead algae.
Use Pond Dye after Cutrine Treatment to limit new algae from returning to your pond.
When is the best time for treatment of algae?
Cutrine Plus works best when applied to water that is above 60 degrees. Treat early on a clear sunny day for best results.
Application Rate for Cutrine Plus:
1.8 gal treats 1 acre-foot of water for medium density string algae (Treats approx 8,000 sq ft in 3 ft of water)
1 acre-foot = 1 acre of water, 1 foot deep. For example: A 1 acre pond with an average depth of 6 feet contains 6 acre-feet of water.
Cutrine Plus Granular can be used as an alternative for spot treatment of bottom growing algae or for bottom growing algae in deep water.
Will this kill my pond scum?
A number of vegetation types fall into the category of pond scum. Not all surface films are algaes. Here is a helpful source to determine what your "scum" is- Green Pond Scum
