Add 1 teaspoon (5mL) of Algaefix per 50 gallons of pond water
Add 1/4 cup (60mL) of Algaefix per 600 gallons of pond water
Dosing can be repeated every 3 days until algae is controlled.
What to expect after treatment:
As algae slime or moss dies it floats to the surface. It will visually look worse before its better. Algae will turn yellow/brown and die. For ponds without a skimmer filter, use a net to remove floating mats for faster results. For green water algae, you may see foaming at the surface as algae dies.
Why is algae growing in my pond?
Algae grows because there are nutrients and sunlight available. These nutrients include nitrate, phosphate, ammonia which come from fish waste, fish food, plant & yard fertilizers, dead vegetation, etc.
Target the root cause of Algae- NUTRIENTS . This will yield long term results and is healthier for fish.
Manage nutrients with the Koi Pond Maintenance Kit. These treatments can be used with Algaefix, but its recommended that you wait 3 days after Algaefix application to apply natural products.
Green Water that won't clear up
Green water is a sign of imbalance in the water. If a pond recently had a major water change, the pond will experience a "green over" at 2-3 weeks after the water change. The best thing to do in this situation is to apply natural bacteria (Pond Remedy) to help bring balance back. If water hasn't been changed recently, then nutrient levels are very high and could cause damage to fish. Treat with Pond Remedy and Pond Renu to reduce nutrients and starve algae naturally.
